Westfield River Watershed The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife has put out their schedule for stocking salmon fry in the Westfield River and its tributaries this spring. WRWA is committed to providing at least 8-10 volunteers to stock on Saturdays April 14 and April 28, and volunteers are needed on the other dates listed below as well - for which the meeting points are in the Westfield area. If you live in the Greenfield or Northampton areas, there are additional dates that might be convenient for you in the complete stocking schedule [pdf]. Call Caleb Slater's voicemail at 508-389-6331 for more information!! Bring boots or waders and a lunch. Meet at the indicated location at 8:00, with an expected 8:30 start. Some of the sites are in upstream sections of the river (Chester, Becket, etc.), so be prepared for some driving. Monday, April 9: Meet at the parking lot for the Norwottuck Rail Trail, on Damon Rd. just north of Exit 19 from I-91. Stocking will be done along the East Branch of the Westfield River and its tributaries. Tuesday, April 10: Meet at the parking lot for the Norwottuck Rail Trail, on Damon Rd. just north of Exit 19 from I-91. Stocking will be done along the East Branch of the Westfield River and its tributaries. Wednesday, April 11: Meet at Tekoa Country Club on Rt. 20 about 3 miles W of the center of Westfield. Stocking will be done in tributaries of the lower Westfield River. Thursday, April 12: Meet at Tekoa Country Club on Rt. 20 about 3 miles W of the center of Westfield. Stocking will be done in tributaries of the West Branch of the Westfield River Friday, April 13: Meet at the parking lot for the Norwottuck Rail Trail, on Damon Rd. just north of Exit 19 from I-91. Stocking will be done along the East Branch of the Westfield River and its tributaries. Saturday, April 14: WRWA Day!! Meet at Westfield State College at the entrance to the Commuter Parking Lot on Western Ave. about 3 miles west of downtown Westfield. Meet at Gateway Regional High School in Huntington (Take Rt. 20 west to Huntington, then north on 112 for about 1.5 miles and left just beyond the Granville Country Store and just before crossing the river - the high school is just a few hundred yards down the road on the left).
