Hope to see you on the river!

Hundreds of volunteers have helped remove thousands of pounds of trash from the Westfield River over the years. WRWA continues to host annual clean ups around Earth Day in the spring and the CT River "Source to Sea" Clean-up in the fall. WRWA provides bags and coordinates roadside trash removal with local municipalities.

WRWA River Cleanup Spring 2025:
4/26/2025 in Westfield
WRWA is partnering with the City of Westfield and several other groups for our 2024 Earth Day Cleanup on April 26. Link to the cityofwestfield.org for more information.

Westfield area volunteers are asked to meet at the Masonic Lodge at 72 Broad St.  A simple breakfast and coffee will be available beginning at 8:00 am.  Cleanup assignments and supplies (gloves, trash bags, and high-visibility vests if needed) will be distributed at that time.  By 9:00, groups will have departed to the various sites.  Volunteers are welcomed to return to the Masonic Lodge for a complimentary lunch at 1:00 pm.  For more information, please contact WRWA Coordinator Mark Damon at locations at 413-977-1577, [email protected].

4/26/2025 in Agawam
Volunteers for the River cleanup in Agawam will gather at 9:00 am at the Pynchon Point parking lot near the South End bridge circle on River Road.  Assignments are generally completed about 1:00 pm.  Organizers are closely watching river levels in Agawam, and the cleanup will be postponed there if conditions are not good.  For more information, please contact Sheryl Becker at 413-374-1921, [email protected].

WRWA will distribute gloves and trash bags and offer safety tips, then send off site teams. Organizers target watershed sites in Westfield, Russell, Huntington, West Springfield and Agawam. Assignments are generally completed about noon or 1pm.

Everyone is welcome; children must be supervised by an adult. WRWA will arrange with local communities for pickup of trash and debris recovered at each site.
